Ever irrationally think about quitting because the administration changed the shoulder patches or moved you to a different assignment? Do you regularly sit in a chair in front of a television off-duty and completely tune out your family? Do you feel better when you're at work than when you're at home? Want to know Why?
Want to learn how to recognize these problems and how to fix them? Does your spouse, family, friends, frequently tell you that "you've changed, since you became a cop."
Students will explore the mental, physical, and emotional preparation necessary for officer emotional survival not only during the inevitable critical incidents but over the course of an entire career. Why are the best and brightest on the street plagued with high divorce rates, alcohol issues, infidelity, depression and suicide. All issues which department administrations either ignore, ostracize members or treat with a "sledgehammer" approach that make matters worse.
